A subwoofer is a type of individual device in a loudspeaker that contributes to sound creation, has a cone-shaped diaphragm, and is usually used to produce mid and low frequency parts of a music signal. Usually to reproduce low-pitched bass audio frequencies. The specific frequency range for a subwoofer is around 20–200 Hz for consumer products, below 100 Hz for a livelier professional sound, and under 80 Hz in THX-approved systems. This subwoofer is intended to add vulnerable low frequency loudspeakers that include higher frequency bands. A subwoofer is made for one or more loudspeaker transducers in a loudspeaker cabinet that is able to withstand air pressure against deformation. Subwoofers come in a variety of designs, including reflex bass (with passive radiators in the cabinet), borderless insulation, horns, brandpass designs, representing matters relating to efficiency, bandwidth, size and cost. Passive subwoofers have transducers and cabinets that are supported by an external amplifier. Active subwoofer included in an amplifier that is inside.
